Privacy policy
1. Who we are
This policy explains what personal information Offkamber, Inc., doing business as Sandy Cats ("Sandy Cats," "we," "us"), collects when you visit sandycats.com, buy from us, or contact us, and what we do with it.
Sandy Cats, 2009 Porterfield Way, Suite M, Upland, CA 91786, USA. Email sales@sandycats.com. Phone (323) 210-6284.
We are the business responsible for your information (the "controller" under European and UK law). Our store runs on Shopify.
Effective date: September 29, 2026.
2. What we collect and why
| What | Examples | Where it comes from | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contact and order details | Name, email, phone, shipping and billing address, what you bought | You, at checkout | To fill and ship your order, send order and tracking emails, handle returns and warranty claims |
| Payment details | Card, PayPal or Shop Pay details, entered on the payment processor's secure form | You, entered directly with the payment processor | To take payment. The processor handles your card; we never see or store the full number, only the card type and last four digits |
| Messages | Emails, chat messages, photos you send us | You | To answer questions and sort out problems |
| Reviews | Your name, review, photos | You, through our review app | To show reviews on the site |
| Military or first responder status | Whether GovX verified you | GovX, when you verify | To apply the discount. GovX holds any documents you give them; we don't get them |
| Device and browsing data | IP address, browser, device, pages viewed, clicks, scrolls, what you added to cart, the site you came from | Collected automatically by cookies, pixels and similar tools (section 3) | To run the site, measure what works, fix problems, prevent fraud, and advertise our products |
| Email marketing preferences | Whether you signed up, what you opened | You, and our email tool | To send marketing email you signed up for |
We also use order and device data to screen orders for fraud.
We don't collect sensitive information such as health, biometric or precise location data, and we don't ask for Social Security numbers.
3. Cookies, pixels and session recording
Our site uses cookies, pixels, web beacons and similar tools, some of them run by other companies. They collect device and browsing data as you use the site. You can turn off advertising tracking through the "Your privacy choices" link in our footer, or by emailing us (section 4).
Session recording. We use Microsoft Clarity and Lucky Orange to record how visitors move through the site: clicks, scrolling, mouse movement and the pages they see. We use this to find what's broken or confusing. Payment details are never recorded: checkout runs on Shopify's own secure pages, where these tools don't run. Microsoft and Lucky Orange collect this data on our behalf.
Chat. If you use the chat on our site, your messages are stored by Shopify so we can reply.
The tools we use:
| Company | What it does for us | Their privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify | Runs our store, checkout and chat | shopify.com/legal/privacy |
| Meta (Facebook, Instagram) | Measures and targets our ads | facebook.com/privacy/policy |
| Google (Analytics, Ads) | Site analytics and ads | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Microsoft Clarity | Session recording and heatmaps | privacy.microsoft.com |
| Lucky Orange | Session recording and heatmaps | luckyorange.com/privacy |
| Klaviyo | Email marketing | klaviyo.com/legal/privacy |
| TripleWhale | Ad performance reporting | triplewhale.com/privacy-policy |
| FERA | Product reviews | fera.ai/privacy |
| GovX | Military and first responder verification | govx.com/privacy-policy |
| PageFly, Selleasy, Visually | Page building, product suggestions, testing page versions | Each company's own policy |
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site, like the cart, won't work without them.
4. Who we share it with, and advertising
We don't sell your information for money. We share it only with:
- Companies that help us run the business: the tools in section 3, payment processors, and shipping carriers (UPS, USPS) who need your name and address to deliver.
- Advertising partners (Meta and Google): see below.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, such as fighting fraud.
- A buyer, if the business is ever sold, under this same policy.
Advertising. Third parties, including Meta and Google, use cookies, web beacons and similar tools to collect or receive information from our site and elsewhere on the internet. They use it to measure our ads and to show you ads, including Sandy Cats ads on other sites and apps based on your visits to our site. Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads based on your visits to our site and other sites.
How to opt out:
- Use the "Your privacy choices" link in our footer to turn off advertising tracking on our site, in states whose privacy laws give you that right. Anyone can email sales@sandycats.com with "Opt out" in the subject, and we'll stop using your email and order details for advertising.
- We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) in states whose laws recognize it: if your browser sends that signal, we treat it as an opt-out.
- Google: adssettings.google.com. Google Analytics opt-out: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. How Google uses data from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Meta: your ad preferences at facebook.com/adpreferences.
- Industry opt-outs: optout.aboutads.info (US) and youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
5. Email and text messages
Email. If you sign up for our newsletter or check the box at checkout, we'll send you marketing email. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email sales@sandycats.com to be taken off the list. Order, shipping and warranty emails still go out after you unsubscribe, because they're about your purchase.
Text messages. We don't send marketing texts today. If we start, we'll only text people who opt in, message and data rates may apply, you'll be able to reply STOP at any time, and we won't sell or share your phone number or text opt-in with anyone for their own marketing.
6. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can email sales@sandycats.com and ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you and send you a copy
- correct it
- delete it (we keep what the law or an open order, return or warranty claim requires)
- stop marketing email
- stop sharing it for advertising (section 4)
We'll answer within 45 days. To protect your information, we'll confirm it's you by matching details from your order before we act. You can have someone else make a request for you if they show us your written permission. We won't charge you more or treat you differently for using any of these rights.
Europe (EEA) and the UK. We use your information to fill your order (our contract with you), to meet legal duties such as tax records, for our legitimate interest in running and improving the store, preventing fraud and advertising our products, and with your consent for marketing email. You can withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to object to processing, to ask us to limit it, to get your data in a portable format, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Canada and Australia. You have the right to access and correct your information and to complain to your privacy regulator. Email us first and we'll try to sort it out.
7. The rest
How long we keep it. Order records stay as long as tax and accounting law requires and while a return or warranty claim could still come in. Our products carry a lifetime warranty, so we keep proof of purchase for as long as it could matter to you. Marketing data stays until you unsubscribe. Session recordings and analytics data are kept for the periods set by those tools, usually months, not years.
Security. Checkout and payments run on Shopify's secure systems, and card numbers never reach us. No system is perfect, but we limit who can see your information and use tools with strong security.
Children. Our site isn't meant for children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and we don't sell or share information of anyone we know is under 16. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Where your data goes. We're in the United States, and our tools store data in the United States and other countries. If you're outside the US, your information is transferred there, protected by the safeguards our providers use, such as standard contractual clauses.
Changes. If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change matters, we'll say so on the site or by email.
