No Stretch, On Purpose

A tow strap is for a slow, steady pull. Polyester holds its length under load, so the rig behind you follows along instead of bouncing on the line. That's the point: on a long tow out you want the two trucks moving as one, not loading and unloading a spring between them.

Two Jobs It Does Well

The tow out, miles of it, so your kinetic rope stays in the bag for the pulls that need it. And a tree saver: wrap it around the trunk, shackle the loops together, and you've got a winch anchor that doesn't cut the bark or the webbing. Sleeved eyes on both ends, a keeper strap to hold the coil.

Rigged to mountain-rescue standards, not parking-lot standards.

Stuck in sand, mud or snow? That's a kinetic rope. Stuck on rocks, or towing a dead rig out over them? That's the Snatch Strap.

Tow Strap Questions

Tow strap, snatch strap or kinetic rope?

All three will tow. The difference is how much stretch you want and what you're willing to wear out.

• Kinetic rope: the most stretch, for the stuck pull. Tow with it for miles and it gets dragged through dirt and rock, and that's what trashes a rope.

• Snatch strap: nylon, just enough stretch: smoother than a tow strap, calmer than a rope. The crawler strap: a controlled tug when you're hung up (high-centered, on a ledge, a diff on a boulder), and the tow off a technical trail.

• Tow strap: no stretch, a short controlled tug, and the beater for the long flat tow out on dirt or fire road. Cheap to replace, and your rope stays in the bag.

Can I use it as a tree saver?

Yes. Wrap it low on the trunk, join the loops with a soft shackle, run the winch line to the shackle. Keep the strap flat, no twists.

What's it rated for?

30,000 lb break strength, tested to failure.

What's the warranty, and how long does it last?

Lifetime warranty under proper use, within its published service life, which starts the day it's shipped. Ten years stored shaded and dry, five if it lives in the bed. The full rules and the claim process are on the Warranty and Service Life page.

When do I retire it?

Cuts, fraying, melted or glazed webbing, sun-bleached and stiff, or any pull it wasn't meant for. Then it's done.
